The old 72-mgd plant, the city's earliest filtered-supply source, located on an offshore island in Lake Ontario, and one of four plants serving metropolis, is to be doubled size. Operating since 1911 but now only seasonally meet peak summer demands, plant has kept extensive records rawwater quality.
