Relationship between cooling rate and cooling age of a mineral: Theory and applications to meteorites

摘要: — We reviewed here the recent development on mathematical formulation of closure temperature a cooling geochronological system, which permits direct retrieval rate from age when diffusion parameters, grain size and initial are known. This is used to show how can be retrieved by comparing core bulk mineral determined single decay system. The rates seven H chondrites metamorphic types H4, H5 H6 were available data Pb-Pb model ages phosphates kinetic Pb in apatite. results excellent agreement with metallographic an inverse relation grade these chondrites. also addressed problem ∼90 Ma younger Sm-Nd isochron age, defined orthopyroxene, phosphate plagioclase, Morristown mesosiderite compared Estherville mesosiderite. It shown that this could have been consequence resetting during instead “impulsive heating” event, as suggested earlier.
