摘要: This study assessed sentence comprehension in Alzheimer's disease (AD) while minimizing executive resource demands. AD patients (n=17) and healthy elderly control subjects were asked to detect a word sentence. Unbeknownst subjects, the target at times followed an incorrect grammatical or semantic agreement. Control took significantly longer respond when it immediately agreement violation compared coherent agreement, difference that was not evident by several syllables. did demonstrate discrepancy between immediate vicinity of but demonstrated significant delay their response – particularly Analyses individual patient performance profiles revealed pattern delayed sensitivity agreements majority patients. Correlation regression analyses associated patients’ violations over abnormally time course with measure inhibitory control, although weaker associations also measures planning short-term memory. We hypothesize difficulty understanding grammatically complex sentences is related slowed information processing speed restricts timely construction sentence's structure limits inhibition canonical interpretations such as first-noun-is-subject.
