摘要: Although Albania has a rich reptile fauna, efforts to reveal its diversity have so far been limited. To fill this gap, we collected available published and unpublished (museum collections, online sources) records of occurrences conducted several expeditions search for reptiles in areas with few or no previous records. Our georeferenced database contains 3731 40 species from between 1918 2015. Based on comprehensive dataset, prepared distribution maps each the country. Applying spatial statistics, revealed that overall sampling effort was clustered, hotspots associated easily accessible natural heritage sites. The maximum number per cell 26 an average seven. Cells harbouring large were located along Adriatic Ionian coasts, western slopes south Albanian mountains, i.e. generally considered as Balkans biodiversity potential historical refugia. We found presence is strongly influenced by landscape features. Diversity land cover, altitudinal variation, temperature precipitation variation explained observed pattern our models. study presents largest date first analyse patterns Albania. can provide basis future macroecological studies conservation planning.
