Sex and age correlates of Chlamydia prevalence in adolescents and adults entering correctional facilities, 2005: implications for screening policy.

摘要: Objectives: To evaluate sex and age correlates of chlamydia prevalence in incarcerated populations. Methods: Cross-sectional analysis by demographic characteristics from females males entering selected juvenile adult correctional facilities (jails) the United States 2005. Results: A total 97,681 52,485 persons aged ≥12 years were screened for 141 22 facilities, respectively. Overall, was high (14.3% 7.5%) both when compared with that (6.0% 4.6%). The higher than s35 years, highest among ≤25 (range, 11.3%-15.6%). In did not steadily increase (12.8% 12-14 15.1 % 15-17 14.3% 18-20 years) whereas increased (2.4% to 8.7% years). blacks (18.4% 9.6%, respectively). consistently younger detainees: it 15.6% 18- 20-year olds 1.5% those >40 years; 8.8% 18-to 1.4% years. Conclusions: (≤25 supports a screening policy settings consistent Centers Disease Control Prevention US Preventive Services Task Force guidelines. Although is substantial, exceeds ≤35 thus these should take priority over males.
