摘要: Background: HPV infection is associated with high p16 expression and good prognosis in head neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCCs). Analysis of CDKN2A, the gene encoding p16, may further elucidate association between prognosis. We sought to determine whether CDKN2A copy number loss was poor survival HPV-negative HNSCCs. Methods: The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) HNSCC clinical genomic data were obtained integrated. Patients <80 years old a primary tumor oral cavity, oropharynx, hypopharynx, or larynx included. Stratifying by status, mRNA protein levels examined overall (OS) disease-free (DFS) evaluated. Results: 401 patients identified. 146 demonstrated loss. group expressed significantly lower than did non-copy group. Median OS for without 16.5 months 46.6 respectively (p=0.007). DFS both groups 11.6 19.2 (p=0.03). In univariate multivariable analyses, stage IV designation, receipt chemotherapy, predictive survival. Conclusions: predicted independently other patient treatment factors be clinically useful prognostic factor.
