摘要: A plasma transferred wire arc thermal spray apparatus and method producing an extended-arc supersonic jet stream for applying a dense metallic coating on substrate, such as concave internal surface of bore. The includes generating torch assembling having cathode anode nozzle surrounding the feeder which continuously feeds tip feedstock opposite constricted orifice wherein is maintained at same positive electrical potential nozzle. Plasma gas directed into nozzle, preferably vortex flow around exiting restricted orifice. improved pilot power supply high voltage or frequency initiates electric separate main extends to tip. In disclosed bore method, assembly rotated about longitudinal axis while maintaining connection between further annular conical port connected second source generates point intersection spaced downstream feed guide cool assembly.
