摘要: The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breast-feeding (EBF) for HIV exposed infants six months; this is considered best practice reducing mother-to-child transmission of in the postpartum period. This a scoping review barriers affecting women's decision-making and choice to sustain EBF sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). An online literature search via PubMed, Science Direct, Google Scholar, WHO Joint United Nations Programme on AIDS (UNAIDS) websites identified research studies reports that explored socio-economic, cultural infant feeding counselling-related among HIV-positive mothers SSA. A total 341 relevant articles were only 35 (23 qualitative, 3 quantitative 9 mixed methods) met inclusion criteria. Findings reveal key sustained are healthcare workers’ personal biases, inadequate counselling skills guideline knowledge, culture norms, maternal lack power fear vertical transmission. Transmission programs countries where major challenges persist should evaluate address worker community-level factors impeding EBF.
