摘要: Following a stroke there can be large range of different deficits, with poor motor function and cognition being particularly important for outcome. Rehabilitation these deficits is thus an priority clinicians. In this thesis, I present 5 experimental chapters aiming to generate cognitive benefits the survivor. Chapter 2, prolonged Mirror Therapy was applied chronic survivors. 3, in home based both Chapters 2 3 unimanual performance affected limb functional improvements daily activities are reported. 4 considered application early subacute participants tested neural correlates behind any effect. Changes brain activation within ipsi- contralesional hemispheres were noted. Functional Electrical Stimulation patients 5. Improvements noted, along amelioration visuomotor neglect. Linked changes activity again Finally, 6, Computer Progressive Attention Training patients, comparing who received no extra intervention. Importantly, training not only improved functions but also other processes targeted (e.g., long-term memory). Taken together, work provides evidence strategies that followed by clinicians improve ability after stroke. final chapter above findings discussed together clinical implications rehabilitation approaches.
