摘要: An investigation is made of the global relationship between seasonal variations surface mixed-layer depths derived from monthly climatological hydrographic data and pigments satellite ocean color data. At middle high latitudes western North Pacific Atlantic, shallowing depth winter to spring largely explains basin-scale features bloom phytoplankton in terms Sverdrup's critical theory. In these areas occurs along with increase insolation spring. eastern Southern Ocean absence a difficult explain using theory because parameters are treated as constants, which nature vary physiological ecological conditions. northern termination fall corresponds deepening mixed layer beyond depth. found useful first step examining general pattern seasonality.
