摘要: Antinematodal efficacy of Saussurea lappa roots (Qust-e-Shereen) and anticestodal effect Nigella sativa seeds (Kalonji) was studied in children infected naturally with the respective worms. The activities were judged on basis percentage reductions faecal eggs per gram (EPG) counts. 50 mg/kg single dose S. equivalent amount its methanolic extract produced days 7 15 EPG reduction similar to 10 pyrantel pamoate. Similarly, oral administration 40 N. sativa, ethanolic niclosamide reduced counts not significantly different from each other 15. Therefore, it is conceivable that these indigenous medicinal plants contain active principles effective against nematodes cestodes. crude drugs did produce any adverse side effects doses tested.
