摘要: The manner in which hypertension (HTN) is defined children has undergone substantial changes over the last several decades. Prior to availability of statistical data on normal distribution blood pressure (BP) during childhood, adult thresholds BP normality were generally applied children. Although specific values recommended define HTN adults have migrated downwards recent years, general a single set regardless age. In fact, most clinical advisory statement from Coordinating Committee National High Blood Pressure Education Program categorically states that use age-adjusted targets “discouraged.” This recommendation no validity for evaluation hypertensive Children predictably undergo an age- and height-related rise as they mature, thus requiring threshold be continually redefined throughout childhood. fundamental issue created confusion among primary care providers who children, confounded investigation pediatric by researchers.
