摘要: In many low-and middle-income countries women with infertility are often in polygynous marriages. From a human and women’s rights perspective, the practice of polygyny is commonly understood as harmful. Studies indicate that aggravates negative life circumstances respect to their health social well-being. The purpose this qualitative study explore how experience understand decision-making regarding these An explorative was conducted among urban communities West Coast region Gambia using in-depth interviews (30). Data analysis involved an emergent partially inductive thematic framework carried out NVivo 11. With exception some who described positive experiences within marriages, most emphasised conflicts exist households reported financial emotional difficulties. Thematic identified several strategies cope resist including overcoming childlessness, addressing conflict, spending time outside compound, looking for support, kanyaleng kafoolu, living separately initiating divorce. Moreover, power when it comes marriages found be closely related socio-demographic background. This work highlights precarious situation Gambia. Women utilize mix compliance, coping resistance navigate challenges structurally constraining context.
