摘要: SummaryAim This study investigated whether perceived weight discrimination is associated with increased risk for major chronic medical conditions and the associations persist after adjusting other stressful life events in addition to BMI, physical activity sociodemographic variables. Methods The included 21 357 overweight/obese adults (52.9% women) from 2001 2002 2004 2005 National Survey of Alcohol Related Conditions. Results Perceived was significantly arteriosclerosis, diabetes, high cholesterol, myocardial infarction, minor heart stomach ulcers. Perceived reporting more events. After additionally final multiple logistic regression, diabetes cardiac remained significant. Gender-stratified analyses revealed that different women than men, many became non-significant when events, particularly women. Conclusions Among adults, obesity-related even variables. Accounting acute may also be important understanding health effects discrimination. Such added overweight/obesity posed by warrants public policy interventions against reduce socioeconomic burden obesity.
