摘要: Abstract Background Locoregionally advanced oral cavity cancers are aggressive tumours with high risk of relapse after definitive treatment. This study was performed to assess the effectiveness and safety induction chemotherapy prior surgery for untreated cancer patients. Material methods Only prospective phase III randomised studies comparing followed by or without postoperative radiotherapy (Chemo Group) compared (Control were eligible. Two authors independently selected assessed regarding eligibility criteria bias. Results selected. A total 451 patients randomly assigned Chemo Group (n = 226) versus Control (n = 225). Most had at clinical stages III/IV (89.1%). Both trials classified as having low No significant overall benefit in favour found loco-regional recurrence, disease-free survival survival. subgroup analysis individual data from cN2 showed statistically chemotherapy. The included did not directly compare toxicity between groups no statistical outcomes. Conclusions Based on available studies, when administered before curative intent improve outcomes locoregionally Clinically N2 might
