摘要: Purpose: We provide an account of the relationships between eye shape, retinal shape and peripheral refraction. Recent findings: discuss how shapes may be described as conicoids, we describe axis section reference system for determining shapes. Explanations are given patterns expansion during development myopia contribute to changing refraction, pre-existing might myopia. Direct indirect techniques described, results discussed. There is reasonable consistency in literature length increasing at a greater rate than height width degree increases, so that eyes from oblate/spherical prolate However, one study indicates retina itself, while showing same trend, remains oblate most (discounting high myopia). Eye not merely describing being or insufficient without some understanding parameters contributing this; likely involve both steepening near posterior pole combined with flattening (or reduction compared emmetrope) away pole.
