摘要: Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is the third gasotransmitter described in mammals. These gasotransmitters (H2S, CO, and NO) are small molecules able to diffuse freely across membranes thus susceptible reach easily intracellular targets, one of which respiratory enzyme cytochrome oxidase subject complete inhibition by low micromolar concentrations these gases. However contrast NO or H2S can be metabolized a quinone reductase feeding mitochondrial chain with hydrogen atoms sulfide. Sulfide two-sided molecule: substrate poison according concentration. The aim this chapter present mean monitor oxidation isolated mitochondria cells summarize how properties amazing couple (mitochondria sulfide) translate into practical conceptual consequences.
