摘要: The importance of seed provisioning in food security and nutrition, agricultural development rural livelihoods, agrobiodiversity germplasm conservation is well accepted by policy makers, practitioners researchers. role farmer networks less understood yet central to debates on current issues ranging from sovereignty rights for farmers GMOs the crop germplasm. In this paper we identify four common misconceptions regarding nature today. (1) Farmer are inefficient dissemination. (2) closed, conservative systems. (3) provide ready, egalitarian access seed. (4) destined weaken disappear. We challenge these drawing upon recent research findings authors' collective field experience studying systems Africa, Europe, Latin America Oceania. Priorities future suggested that would advance our understanding better inform policy.
