摘要: Rotational grazing has been proposed as a Best Management Practice (BMP) for minimizing runoff in Wisconsin agricultural riparian areas. The influence of this land management practice on grassland birds not evaluated relation to more traditional systems Midwestern This study compared the bird community areas that were rotationally grazed 2 common use practices along streams Wisconsin: continuously pastures and rowcrop fields with 10-m-wide ungrazed buffer strips located stream. We calculated total number birds, Berger-Parker Index Dominance, ha(-1) each site. Vegetation variables used height-density, litter depth, percent bare ground. Bird species richness, dominance, density did differ among types. In contrast, concern [Savannah Sparrow (Passerculus sandwichensis Gmelin), Eastern Meadowlark (Sturnella magna L.), Bobolink (Dolichonyx oryzivorus L.)] found continuous rotational but very rarely or never occurred strips. Contrary previous research, however, support these than pastures. was related vegetation structure, higher densities sites deeper litter. Within pasture types, there no consistent differences between richness near stream ( 10 m). DOI:10.2458/azu_jrm_v54i5_renfrew
