摘要: The potential to generate new roots and even whole plants after the removal of a great part their reserves is typical characteristic in monoembryonic seeds species genus Eugenia. Previous works have shown that Eugenia can produce seedlings from with only ¼ mass, at initial stages seed maturity, as well germinating seeds. Ecologically, this could be an important strategy guarantee propagation since they would able develop serial same seed, according environmental conditions, but has not been evaluated. In work, E. candolleana four maturity phases were longitudinally or transversally cut, maintained high percentages germination normal production. second experiment, first seedling developed removed regeneration capacity was also results showed it possible obtain more than one each seed. They root shoot removal, occurred. These characteristics understood evolutionary strategy, which natural under unsuitable environment.
