摘要: OBJECTIVE The purpose of the study was to determine if magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans elderly depressed patients differ from MRI age-matched control subjects and with Alzheimer's disease. METHOD authors studied 21 60 years or older major depression, 16 disease, 14 subjects. RESULTS Compared subjects, had greater cerebral sulcal temporal atrophy; larger sylvian fissures, lateral ventricles, third horns; severity subcortical white matter lesions. Depressed also more basal ganglia lesions but similar levels periventricular hyperintensity. There were no differences between without delusions on any measure. who received ECT horn atrophy abnormality summary scores than normal Cortical correlated age at onset depression. CONCLUSIONS findings suggest that hospitalized have cortical as well correlation these abnormalities outcome remains unknown.
