摘要: Galactomannans were extracted from the seeds of seven different legumes to obtain samples which differed in average molecular weight, polydispersity, and mannose-to-galactose ratio molecule. Measurements made viscosities as a function shear rate sedimentation diffusion coefficients aqueous solutions all galactomannans. Average weights calculated using Svedberg equation. The Mark-Houwink relationship between intrinsic viscosity was found hold for series galactomannans despite differences ratios solutes. Estimates galactomannan polydispersities both sedimentation-coeffient distributions also diffusion-coefficient ratios, Dm/DA. two methods gave results qualitative agreement. hydrodynamic properties more homogeneous compared with predictions Flory-Fox hydro-dynamic theory, very similar those obtained water-soluble synthetic cellulose derivatives, hydroxyethylcellulose ethydroxycellulose.
