摘要: Relics of the pre-Mesozoic geology are preserved in five crystalline basement complexes External Massifs. Precambrian metamorphic units and to Palaeozoic sediments, inter-layered with volcanics ultramafic rocks, suffered most areas a polymetamorphic history. After formation eclogitic mineral assemblages (possible Ordovician), geotectonic evolution followed collisional type metamorphism (Ky-Sill-And) accompanied by crustal thickening. Rising geothermal gradients since Devonian may be expression updoming erosion and/or post-orogenic collapse. Strike-slip Early Carboniferous was anatexis, guided transtensional sedimentary troughs, nappe stacking that had not been subjected main event, intrusion Late-Variscan granite bodies.
