摘要: There is a critical need for college students to receive an education that fosters global learning in preparation life increasingly interdependent and interconnected world. Universities recognize this endeavor provide range of programs target knowledge skills, meet the needs traditional non-traditional students. Domestic foreign language immersion can contribute student development by providing with opportunity participate rich experience U.S. While some researchers have investigated impacts domestic on proficiency, few studies other kinds outcomes are available, research needed gain understanding program make improvements. The purpose study was determine extent which participation perceived influence development. used mixed-methods design incorporated as key instrument retrospective survey former participants university-level program. Perspectives from short-term abroad, languages, transformative learning, citizenship informed research. found all three domains degree similar except area social GLOBAL LEARNING AND DFLI ii responsibility, received significantly lower rating. Finally, characteristics, including age, level, prior international or intercultural experience, on/off-campus residence were not associated influence. A qualitative analysis helped explain these findings. iii
