摘要: To establish infection in the host, malaria parasites export remodeling and virulence proteins into erythrocyte. These can traverse a series of membranes, including parasite membrane, parasitophorous vacuole erythrocyte membrane. We show that conserved pentameric sequence plays central role protein host cell predict exported proteome Plasmodium falciparum. identified 400 putative erythrocyte-targeted corresponding to ∼8% all predicted genes, with 225 further 160 likely be involved The conservation this signal across species has implications for development new antimalarials.
