摘要: In this chapter we review various aspects of biological attachments dissimilar materials, concentrating on the example tendon-to-bone attachment, a composite made up compliant collagen fibers and stiff mineral platelets. The natural optimization attachment occurs several scales, including macroscopic morphology interdigitation. Macroscopically, interdigitation is analogous to z-pinning in joints. Microscopically, functional grading for both orientation distribution mineral. Nanoscopic involves sequencing deposition within around fibrils. lessons from are pertinent materials engineering. A discussion possible applications these engineering included concluding section chapter.
