摘要: Death by suicide and attempted among Inuit youth is now considered a public health emergency of epidemic proportion, with rates the highest worldwide. A strong sense cultural identity pride, as well social capital, has been identified being protective against suicide. The Canadian Institute for Health Research (CIHR) Guidelines Involving Aboriginal People call communities to be included in conception, planning implementation research. authors took first steps towards sharing responsibility designing community initiative Naujaat, Nunavut, located directly on Arctic Circle. With objectives promoting open listening exploration needs enhancing self-determination sustainability, we postulated resiliency project that will co-authored community. This paper describes joint work process. We recount how take ownership guidance Ms. Elizabeth Haqpi, Naujaat Elder. article particularly reflect process balancing different perspectives expectations while enjoying richness mutual learning through keeping each other accountable.
