摘要: Oxygen toxicity was first described in laboratory animals 1878 and further established 1899. The experiment regarding a free radical reaction reported 1894. However, it not until the late 1940s to early 1950s that retrolental fibroplasia premature newborns recognized as being due oxygen 1960s 1970s newborn bronchopulmonary dysplasia adult respiratory distress syndrome were appreciated by medical community. Moreover, presence of radicals biological systems generally considered likely discovery superoxide dismutase 1969, although basis X-irradiation proposed be common mechanism theory aging hypothesized. Oxyradicals are now widely accepted very important, only process but also numerous human diseases/disorders where they have either primary or secondary role. Currently, there extensive global basic research efforts define more clearly role oxidative stress these conditions. Continuing clinical will lead reliable treatment preventive measures for many them. In this review, short history is presented current status various diseases discussed.
