摘要: Based on U.S. national (N = 2673) and central cities 8263) probability samples, this paper: (1) presents estimates of the proportion United States population that has provided informal care to persons with AIDS; (2) identifies socio-demographic characteristics ‘typical’ AIDS caregivers in U.S.; (3) discusses social, economic health-related implications caregiving AIDS. Results indicate 5.0% all adults age 18–75 living within 3.2% entire adult have a friend, relative or lover Although are distributed throughout different ethnic groups, majority younger (< 40 years) white. Males, gay bisexual men particular over-represented among caregivers. Data types tasks performed show 64.4% perform domestic tasks, while 27.7% involved personal patients. Caregivers more likely than non-caregivers been tested for HIV, tested, positive. While reduces costs formal medical sector, themselves should be considered.
