Oral Health of Foreign Domestic Workers: Exploring the Social Determinants

摘要: Foreign domestic helpers constitute a significant proportion of migrant workers worldwide. This population subgroup provides an opportunity for understanding social determinants oral health in immigrant community. A random sample 122 Indonesian Hong Kong completed questionnaire on their demographic background, characteristics (competency local languages, immigration history, living condition, connections, and leisure activities) behaviours (knowledge, attitudes, practice self-efficacy). Their tooth status periodontal were assessed. Participants tended to start flossing after settling Kong. Favourable knowledge was found more acculturated participants, as indicated by proficiency languages history. Engagement and/or religious activities decent condition provided employers associated with favourable better health. Social explained 13.2 % variance caries severity. Our findings support the impact circumstances workers.
