摘要: Abstract We contrast the 200 mb flow regimes during a drought year (1972) with those normal rainfall (1967) over global tropics for northern summer months. It is shown that deficient central India and western Africa 1972 may be related to following: 1) warm sea surface temperatures equatorial Pacific; 2) excessive number of typhoon days 3) strong east-northeasterlies eastern Indian ocean (related upper level outflows from typhoons); 4) weaker tropical easterly jet; 5) meridional pressure gradient India; 6) Tibetan high; 7) southeastward shift major circulation patterns as well several dynamical parameters; 8) vertical wind shear measure combined barotropic-baroclinic instability West Africa; 9) westward steering rain-producing disturbances consequent stronger influence mountains.
