摘要: Objective: Our objective was to examine the associations of nativity, immigrant generation, and language acculturation with obesity among lower income black adult men women. Research Methods Procedures: Data from 551 women were collected participants in Healthy Directions-Health Centers Study. Race/ethnicity nativity self-reported. Language defined using participants’ first language, preferred reading spoken at home. Mixed model logistic regression models estimated account for within-health center clustering. Results: Foreign-born blacks had a risk, compared all U.S.-born participants, multivariable analyses [odds ratio (OR) = 0.57, 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.38, 0.84]. Among those foreign-born parents significantly less likely be obese than individuals (OR 0.54; CI, 0.37, 0.80). Low-moderate also decreased odds being 0.45; 0.23, 0.88). Discussion: findings suggest protective effect status low-moderate on risk immigrants. These data highlight importance more frequently examining obesity-related research conducted blacks.
