摘要: The interactions between various functionalized carbon nanotubes and several types of human cancer cells are explored. We have prepared modified shown that these can be derivatized in a way enables attachment small molecules proteins, the latter through novel noncovalent association. enter nonadherent as well adherent cell lines (CHO 3T3) by themselves not toxic. While fluoresceinated protein streptavidin (MW approximately 60 kD) itself does cells, it readily enters when complexed to nanotube-biotin transporter exhibits dose-dependent cytotoxicity. uptake pathway is consistent with adsorption-mediated endocytosis. use molecular transporters could exploited for cargos. biocompatibility unique physical, electrical, optical, mechanical properties provide basis new classes materials drug, protein, gene delivery applications.
