摘要: Vegetative growth is generally assumed to reach maximum rates when plants invest as much carbohydrate possible in the of new leaves (Monsi and Murata 1970; Schulze 1983). Only with are additional production organs established which by compound interest contribute further (Harper 1989; Diemer et al. 1992). Growth eventually limited supply resources, such water nutrients, or light case self-shading (Schulze Chapin 1987). Storage carbohydrates could be expected compete roots thus reduce rate (Chapin 1990). Nevertheless, storage a very common phenomenon plant kingdom assimilatory starch occurs chloroplasts all leaf tissues. Therefore, this chapter we investigate functional role its interaction using starchless mutant compared wild type Arabidopsis thaliana 1991).
