摘要: The accumulated evidence of the past two decades is overwhelmingly in favour an autoimmune mechanism beta cell destruction leading to insulin dependent (Type I diabetes mellitus. This includes association with certain alleles major histocompatibility complex genes, elevated levels circulating activated T-cells, recapitulation destructive process pancreas grafts absence graft rejection, and presence antiislet auto-antibodies (Bottazzo GF, et al. 1974; MacCuish AC, 1974) circulation majority patients. It this latter feature, anti-islet autoantibodies, that can be considered a hallmark diabees. While these autoantibodies have been extensively studied shown present individuals up 10 years prior development overt diabetes. biochemical nature target autoantigen(s) which react still remains elucidated.
