摘要: Summary Soft-tissue sarcomas (STS) are relatively uncommon, especially when considered as individual histological subtypes (of which there more than 50). Their incidence increases with age, although they disproportionately common among children. When diagnosed and managed in a non-specialist environment, outcome is generally significantly poorer if patients by multidisciplinary team tertiary centre of excellence. Prompt referral clinically suspicious masses strongly advocated, before any type intervention attempted. This brief, opinionbased overview emphasises the approach provides synopsis strategies used at our institution for pre-operative assessment biopsy, surgical management, delivery radiation therapy appropriate (focusing on limb preservation optimisation function). Predictable variations natural history these tumours, based accurate sub-classification, merit wider recognition. The role systemic chemotherapy soft-tissue sarcoma still evolving, but present main aims improved local control, disease-free survival, quality life. There overall survival benefits specific types, this small subgroup. Novel therapies, disease mechanisms molecular level, show promise future advances.
