摘要: The role of an activator flagellar transcription in Escherichia coli, flhD, was investigated the regulation cell division. When grown tryptone broth, flhD mutant cells divided exponentially until they reached a density 2.5 x 10(9) per ml. Wild-type and flhC 4 10(7) 5 times more than wild-type before reduced their division rate 37 higher that or cultures. In stationary phase, biomasses all cultures were similar; however, significantly smaller. Additional tryptone, Casamino Acids, individual amino acids, added at beginning growth, allowed to grow densities. Serine determined have greatest effect. contrast, addition Acids did not exhibit effect upon cells. exhibited normal rates uptake serine other acids. both cultures, concentrations media dropped from 140 20 microM within first 2 h growth. highly correlated. medium concentration 50 serine, this time caused resume We conclude reduction is by depletion seem be unable sense depletion.
