摘要: Satellite radar altimetry has been providing estimates of global mean sea level (GMSL) since 1992. The early TOPEX record originates from two identical instruments, which requires the estimation an intermission bias and careful handling problematic first part record. Calibration is crucial to obtain a continuous consistent record, needed quantify any recent acceleration. We propose novel approach calibrate altimeter data using surface height differences at crossovers ERS. Tide gauges are only used determine drift in one datasets. provide new more accurate estimate intra-mission bias, leads much reduced GMSL acceleration over whole Hence, conundrum uncertain still unsolved, spite opposite claims, contrast expected effect ocean warming continental freshwater fluxes.
