摘要: Worldwide, decline in ungulate species abundance has a direct detrimental impact on cooccurring predator species. The objective of this chapter was to assess the conservation status ungulates North and West Africa, likely consequence for endangered northwest African cheetah ( Acinonyx jubatus hecki) . Many cheetah’s prey region are considered threatened or endangered, experiencing more rapid population declines than other areas Africa. Key threats populations related overharvesting loss habitat due environmental changes (including land-use climate change). small remnant pockets suitable available unlikely be sufficient maintain viable populations. Improved legislative support further key protection strategic expansion protected is crucial, requiring increased funding, broad-scale public education throughout region.
