摘要: Recent sequence analysis revealed that the human pathogen echovirus 22 (EV22) is genetically distant from all other picornaviruses studied to date (T. Hyypia, C. Horsnell, M. Maaronen, Khan, N. Kalkkinen, P. Auvinen, L. Kinnunen, and G. Stanway, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 89:8847-8851, 1992). We have further characterized biological properties of virus show here virion has similar those picornaviruses. However, protein composition unique, in most copies one three major capsid proteins, VP0, do not undergo processing VP2 VP4 observed during maturation previously Alignment sequences with revealed, furthermore, VP3 polypeptide contains an apparent insertion approximately 25 amino acids at its terminus. An arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) motif found VP1, by using synthetic peptides, it was shown this plays a role cell surface receptor recognition. Finally, EV23 share remarkable identity EV22 certain parts genome also belongs unrecognized picornavirus group.
