摘要: PURPOSE: The purpose of the study was to compare estimates body density and percentage fat from air displacement plethysmography (ADP) those hydrodensitometry (HD) in adults children provide a review similar recent studies. METHODS: Body (% BF) were assessed by ADP HD on same day 87 aged 18–69 y (41 males 46 females) 39 8–17 y (19 20 females). Differences between measured predicted thoracic gas volumes determined during procedure resultant effects differences composition also compared. In subset 50 individuals (31 19 children), reliability relative ease or difficulty probed with questionnaire. RESULTS: coefficient %BF 1 2 96.4 90.1 children, technical error measurement 1.6% 1.8% children. Using rather than volume did not significantly affect adults, but resulted overestimates Mean higher HD, although this statistically significant only (29.3 vs 27.7%, P<0.05). 95% confidence interval between-method for all subjects −7 +9% fat, root mean square (r.m.s.e.) approximately 4% fat. who asked two methods, out (92%) indicated that they preferred HD. CONCLUSION: is reliable method measuring found preferable underwater weighing. However, as shown here most other studies, there are perhaps related size, age factors, sufficient preclude being used interchangeably weighing an individual basis.
