摘要: Determining the genetic structure of tropical bird populations is important for assessing potential effects future habitat fragmentation and testing hypotheses about evolutionary mechanisms promoting diversification. Here we used 10 microsatellite DNA loci to describe levels differentiation five lek-mating blue manakin (Chiroxiphia caudata), sampled along a 414-km transect within largest remaining continuous tract highly endangered Atlantic Forest in southeast Brazil. We found small but significant between most populations. FST values varied from 0.0 0.023 (overall = 0.012) that conformed strong isolation by distance relationship, suggesting observed are result migration– drift equilibrium. Nem estimated using coalescent-based method were (≤ 2 migrants per generation) close minimum level required maintain similarity An implication these results if reduces dispersal even extent, then individual may undergo loss diversity due an increase relative importance drift, since inbreeding effective population sizes relatively (Ne ~1000). Our findings also demonstrate structuring can occur absence geographical barriers possibly behavioural features species.
