Learning from the stories of successful undergraduate Latina/Latino students: the importance of mentoring

摘要: The purpose of the present study was to review stories 13 academically successful Latino undergraduate students and explore role that mentoring sponsorship played in their lives. A qualitative analysis conducted examine participants’ using two main descriptors sponsorship. Analyses indicated participants engaged more informal experiences which family members, teachers counselors served as mentors. Sponsorship reported some students. Most sponsors did not serve a capacity. within community provided financial support networking opportunities for revealed college positively impacted students’ lives following matriculation. Finally, suggestions improving practices are presented.
