摘要: Abstract The solution of the population balance equation requires integration several source terms. In numerical weighted residuals methods, Gaussian quadrature is a natural candidate for integration. Previous works using methods solving did use fixed grid points. This work shows that adaptive points can lead to more efficient and accurate solutions equation. For cases where integrand high degree irregularity, hp-optimization method distributes such becomes than with grid. An additional improvement amount changes fit need each integral present, rather having one set all cases. A simple model demonstrates approach.
