摘要: Biodiesel is a low-carbon-intensity renewable fuel with up to 99% lower greenhouse gas emissions than petroleum-based diesel. The use of oil crops for biodiesel under critical examination. It expensive and suffers from the food versus risk/benefit problem. Consequently, many countries (e.g. Malaysia in EU) are scaling back as feedstock biofuel production. limitations these traditional leading fuels industry consider innovative, sustainable, profitable biomass-based platforms. Plant genetic engineering other new breeding technologies essential developing such platforms because they enhance plant tolerance abiotic biotic stresses, resulting higher yields, greater net energy gain, generation high-value co-products. We review summarize recent improvements through that may increase widespread cost-effective production value-added co-products green chemistry applications. © 2017 Society Chemical Industry John Wiley & Sons, Ltd
