摘要: Abstract Identification of harmful algal bloom (HAB) causative agents makes use either morphology-based techniques or genetic tools. These are often time-consuming, labor intensive, and/or based on subjective judgment. Recently, matching with protein/peptide expression profiles (PEPs) obtained matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI–TOF–MS) has emerged as a new technique for species identification various microorganisms. We were the first group to adopt this rapid and simple methodology dinoflagellates ( Lee et al., 2008 ). In present study, we evaluated PEPs from MALDI–TOF–MS field samples local red-tide caused by Karenia digitata . direct analysis compared that established monospecific reference culture. Several species-specific peaks K. found in monoculture most these observed could be matched samples. Matched would allow corresponding future HABs. Furthermore, is damaging dinoflagellate Hong Kong's history, interested obtaining its SSU, partial LSU rDNA ITS sequences studies. besides reporting , phylogenetic tree was also performed. The results showed fell within Karlodinium clade had closer relationship than species.
