Spawning of Galaxias fasciatus Gray (Salmoniformes: Galaxiidae)

摘要: Abstract For the first time Galaxias fasciatus Gray were observed spawning. The spawning sites among flooded terrestrial vegetation along margins of a stream during peak flood. Spawning appeared to be communal event and fish vulnerable eel (Anguilla dieffenbachii) predation at time. This behaviour may have some effect on survival young therefore their subsequent whitebait run.
