Crisis Assessment and Psychiatric Hospitalization of Children and Adolescents in State Custody

摘要: We investigated the clinical characteristics and placement decisions among a group of children who were wards state had been evaluated for crisis assessment. The sample consisted 383 adolescents (ages 2-20 years) Illinois Department Children Family Services (DCFS). This study retrospectively reviewed symptoms, risk factors, functioning co-morbid variables, or system these using structured assessment tool, Childhood Severity Psychiatric Illness (CSPI). Results indicated that behaviors as rated on CSPI, including suicidality, dangerousness, runaway tendency, significant predictors psychiatric hospitalization. importance more widespread usage standardized tools in evaluating children's mental health needs is discussed.
