摘要: Cognitive radio (CR) is viewed as a possible solution to the problem of spectrum congestion. The CR technique utilizes temporarily unoccupied licensed band. Before investigating technical and political implications CR, it necessary know what extent bands are temporally unoccupied. This paper describes spectral occupancy measurement campaign conducted in frequency range between 806 MHz 2750 urban Auckland, New Zealand. purpose identify potential opportunities for CR. Statistical analysis results presented form noise distributions, signal amplitude probability rates percentages time. These analyses indicate that, on average, actual usage this band only about 6.2%. Pint-to-point links some mobile uplink channels identified most probable candidates future operations. suggest that could bring significant gains usage. also imply order provide reliable detection primary signal, cooperative sensing techniques may be mitigate various wireless channel effects.
