摘要: Following a bite from juvenile Russell's viper (Daboia russelii), priapism (painful erection) developed rapidly in 16-year-old male and only subsided after administration of antivenom 3 hours later. Potential mechanisms for this snakebite-induced are unclear but likely due to venom toxins causing nitric oxide (NO) release subsequent vasodilation endothelium the corpus cavernosum, although possible involvement other cannot be ruled out. We strongly believe that unusual case report may lead further scientific research order improve clinical understanding pathophysiology envenomation bites. Although it is too early speculate, also discover possibilities developing venom-based candidate molecules treat sexual dysfunction males females.
